Listening to children: Children's stories of domestic violence |
| This research provided a forum for children to tell their stories about domestic violence and provides considerable detail on how children can be successfully engaged in research. Children's capacity to reflect on their experiences was evidenced in this study. Ethical issues were always to the forefront of this research, to the extent that key methodological decisions were made solely on ethical grounds. The importance of including children in research as active subjects rather than passive objects is now recognised. The challenge for social researchers is to explore children's private experiences and present them for public debate using non-intrusive and safe methods. Published in October 2007 [view more...] |
