National Children's Advisory Council (NCAC)

The first National Children's Advisory Council was established in 2001 as part of the National Children's Strategy. The Council has an independent advisory role reporting to the Minister for Children and Youth Affairs. The Council includes representatives of the statutory agencies, voluntary sector, research community, parents and young people.

The Council’s overarching role is to contribute to the development of a strong collaborative interface between statutory and non-statutory providers of children’s services in order to improve outcomes for children and young people.

The term of office of the current National Children’s Advisory Council (NCAC) has been extended to 30th June 2013.
