AbstractThis Code of Good Practice is based on the National Guidelines for the Protection and Welfare of Children (Children First), published in 1999 by the Department of Health and Children. This Code of Good Practice should be read in conjunction with Children First. The primary aim of this Code of Good Practice for the Youth Work Sector is to give direction and guidance to youth work sector personnel in dealing with allegations/suspicions and disclosures of child abuse. In addition it also aims to provide sufficient information for those involved in the youth work sector to be vigilant and to be aware of what to do in situations where child abuse may be a concern or suspicion. In all cases the most important consideration to be taken into account is the protection and welfare of children and young people.
