National Action Plan for Social Inclusion 2007-2016
Author Office for Social Inclusion
AbstractThis report sets out how the national social inclusion strategy will be achieved over the period 2007-2016. Prepared in a context where income support targets (social welfare rates and pensions) have now been achieved, the plan reflects a greater emphasis on services and activation as a means of tackling social exclusion. Chapter 2 deals with children and lays out the context of their lives in Ireland in relation to their health and education as well as income supports available which have a major impact on their well-being and the well-being of their familes. The services provided to support families in the areas of childcare, health and education are listed,as are the measures for addressing youth homelessness. Also outlined are the innovative measures being taken to promote and facilitate child participation, appropriate training for early school leavers, the prevention and rehabilitation of young people at risk of offending and those at risk from drug misuse.
